Canadians coping with cancer diagnosis can find answers online

(NC) - A cancer diagnosis brings emotional, social, spiritual and practical consequences for patients and families that can reach well beyond the time spent in treatment. A new comprehensive, trustworthy online resource is now available for Canadians who need access to cancer information including services and resources that can help.
The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, in collaboration with a network of regional and national partners, including the Canadian Cancer Society, recently launched Cancer View Canada (www.cancerview.ca), an online community for patients, caregivers, health-care professionals and others interested in improving cancer outcomes.
Through partnerships with other cancer organizations, the portal provides a single access point to the best available cancer services, resources and information in Canada from prevention through to treatment and care.
Cancer View Canada cuts through the clutter and provides a single access point to the best available cancer services, resources and information available in Canada. Some of the tools, services and resources available on the site include:
- Canadian Cancer Trials
- Canadian Cancer Trials is a one-stop source for referring physicians, patients and family members to learn about cancer trials recruiting patients. Searchable by cancer type, province, community, trial centre and drug, Canadian Cancer Trials is updated on an ongoing basis by participating provinces and currently provides information about more than 600 trials.
- Online and Telephone Supports Directory
- The Online and Telephone Supports Directory helps patients and their families to locate online and telephone support services, such as discussion boards and blogs, specific to their needs.
- Cancer View Finder
- The Cancer View Finder is a search tool that brings back results from Canada's leading cancer information sources.
- Canadian Cancer Society's Community Services Locator
- The Community Services Locator helps people find patient support services and programs close to home.
- Canadian Virtual Hospice
- Canadian Virtual Hospice is a website providing trusted information and personalized support about palliative and end-of-life care, loss and bereavement to patients, families and health-care providers.
