Jim Taylor, PhD

Jim Taylor, PhD, has worked with young people, parents, and educators for 20 years. He has been a consultant and frequent speaker to numerous elementary and secondary schools, youth-sports programs, and performing arts organizations around the country.

Dr. Taylor received his Bachelor's degree from Middlebury College and earned his Master's degree and PhD in Psychology from the University of Colorado. He is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of San Francisco.

A former alpine ski racer who competed internationally, Dr. Taylor is a 2nd degree black belt in karate, a marathon runner, and an Ironman triathlete.

Dr. Taylor is the author of eight books including Positive Pushing: How to Raise a Successful and Happy Child (Hyperion, 2003). His latest book, Your Children are Under Attack: How Popular Culture is Destroying Your Kids' Values, and How You Can Protect Them (Sourcebooks) was published in March, 2005. He has published more than 400 articles in scholarly and popular publications, and has given over 500 workshops and presentations throughout North America and Europe.

Dr. Taylor has appeared on NBC's Today Show, Fox New Channel's Fox & Friends, UPN's Life & Style, ABC's World News This Weekend, and major television network affiliates, and has participated in many radio shows. Dr. Taylor has been interviewed for articles that have appeared in Family Circle, The Christian Science Monitor, Parents, The Miami Herald, The Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, and The Baltimore Sun, and many other newspapers and magazines.
