1. Acceptance of the Terms of Service

Please note that Women's Web does not encourage, solicit, or permit visitors who are known to be under the age of 13 to become members of or to visit Women's Web.

The Women's Web web site, chat room and message boards are provided to you free of charge. Although portions of Women's Web may be viewed simply by visiting the web site, in order to access the message boards and/or receive additional services from Women's Web, you need to sign on as a guest or register as a member. Regardless whether you sign on to Women's Web as a guest or whether you register as a member, these Terms of Service will govern your use of Women's Web, including access to message boards, chat rooms and other features. By signing on to Women's Web as a guest and/or completing the user registration process and choosing the "Log In" option, you are indicating your agreement to be bound by these Terms of Service. These Terms of Service will govern your use of all products and services available through the Women's Web web site. Women's Web will not be liable to you for any breach of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not register for or enter Women's Web.

Unauthorized access, distribution, reproduction, copying, retransmission, publication, sale, exploitation (commercial or otherwise), or any other form of transfer of any portion of Women's Web, including but not limited to all content, services, digital products, courses, events, tools or products is expressly prohibited.

2. Community Rules

Hereafter, "Community" shall refer to our web site, chat area and message boards.

Women's Web welcomes all women into our Community, and we encourage the exchange of ideas and views, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.

We aim to provide an enjoyable experience for all women who choose to participate in our Community. Our objective is to provide resources, support and kindness in order that women may find friendship, self-esteem, and the tools to empower themselves. Moderators may, at their sole discretion, remove and/or ban users who willfully violate our Community rules.

The following behaviors will not be tolerated:

Abuse of others
Blatantly targeting others with the intent to cause distress, embarrassment, or other discomfort, including the use of offensive, abusive, threatening, racial, libelous, discriminatory, or other derogatory language.
Off-topic activity
Repeated attempts to derail a chat or message thread or the use of degrading language toward the topic, participants and/or moderator.
Shouting
Typing in all CAPITAL LETTERS.
Flooding
In chat, scrolling the same message into a chat room repeatedly.
Bots/war scripts/MP3 scripts
These are strictly prohibited and may result in your being permanently banned from the chat room.
Illegal activities
Including distribution of malicious files or files that knowingly infringe upon the copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights of others.
Impersonation, spoofing, and harvesting

You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity, whether actual or fictitious, including impersonating a member of the Women's Web staff. You further agree not to use an inappropriate member name of any kind.

Any use by you of any other subscriber's information, personal or otherwise, for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, or to obtain direct financial gain (e.g., mass marketing) is prohibited. Any such use shall be deemed to be a violation of these Terms of Service.

Personal use only
Women's Web is to be used by you for your personal use only. You agree that you will not use our web site for chain letters, solicitations, research study, junk mail, spamming, or bulk communications of any kind.
Inappropriate content/criminal activity
You agree not to use Women's Web to post material or express a view of any kind or nature that is unlawful, harassing, libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, profane, sexually oriented (unless within the scope of the topic area of the Community as determined by Women's Web in its sole discretion; see below), racially offensive, inaccurate, or otherwise objectionable material or that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation, or encourage the use of controlled substances. Masked vulgarity, obscenity or profanity (e.g., "f*ck") is deemed to be equivalent to including the actual objectionable word, phrase or symbol in your post, message or otherwise on Women's Web. Women's Web reserves the right to delete any such material. Women's Web will cooperate fully with any law enforcement officials and/or agencies in the investigation of any person or persons who violate these Terms of Service.
"Spamvertising"

It's important to make the distinction between a user who posts a URL as part of a discussion and not as an attempt to derail it and users who simply "spamvertise" totally useless URLs and gimmicks—either right in the body of their message or as part of a "signature".

"Spamvertising" is not permitted here. "Spamvertising" is a form of online advertising that uses spam-like tactics in ways not usually associated with spam. We know about spam in email and newsgroups, but this is a much wider problem. It's now seen in fake blogs and comments on web sites.

Women's Web believes in fostering constructive discussions. Our visitors come looking for information and support—not wares. As such, we believe in a "commercial free" community. That means forums free of "spamvertisements" for Viagra, Tramadol, boob jobs, debt consolidation, injury law, and whatever heap of rubbish the spamvertisers are hawking.

Sexually-oriented content

Women's Web embraces the importance of sexuality as part of being a woman. As such, topics in our Community may occasionally involve sexual issues. Adult conversations shall be conducted in an adult manner; Women's Web discourages sexual conversations related to pornography, unnecessary graphic descriptions of sexual acts, and the promotion of violence in any form related to sexual acts.

Reference to sexual body parts, intercourse, vulgarity and pornography is not permitted in our chat area; IRCops on the ICQ IRC network reserve the right to monitor any offensive channel topics or IRC nicknames.

You alone are responsible for the content of your messages, and any consequences of such messages. Women's Web reserves the right to terminate your registration if it becomes aware and determines, in its sole discretion, that you are violating our Terms of Service by exhibiting any of the above behaviors.

As previously stated, you are responsible and liable for your conduct while using Women's Web. Ignorance of or disagreement with these Terms of Service does not absolve you of this responsibility. Help us keep Women's Web free of disruptive behavior; please cooperate with our moderators, thereby ensuring Women's Web remains a place for us all to enjoy.

3. Termination

Women's Web reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to immediately, without notice, suspend or terminate these Terms of Service; and/or your registration(s) with or ability to access Women's Web upon any breach by you of these Terms of Service or otherwise.

In the event that Women's Web determines, in its sole discretion, that you have breached any portion of these Terms of Service, or have otherwise demonstrated inappropriate conduct, Women's Web reserves the right to:

  1. warn you via email (to any email address you have provided to Women's Web) that you have violated these Terms of Service;
  2. delete any or all content provided by you or your agent(s) to Women's Web;
  3. discontinue your registration(s) with Women's Web;
  4. notify and/or send content to and/or fully cooperate with the proper law enforcement authorities for further action; and/or
  5. any other action which Women's Web deems to be appropriate.

If your registration(s) with or ability to access Women's Web is discontinued by Women's Web due to your violation of any portion of these Terms of Service or for conduct otherwise inappropriate, then you agree that you shall not attempt to re-register with or access the Women's Web through use of a different member name.

4. Registration and password

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your information and password. You shall be responsible for all uses of your registration, whether or not authorized by you. You agree to immediately notify Women's Web of any unauthorized use of your registration or password.

5. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Women's Web and its affiliates, officers, directors and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your use of Women's Web, the violation of these Terms of Service by you, or the infringement by you, or any other subscriber or user of your account, of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity.
